Leona King

Leona King

Leona King is a legal researcher at the Centre for IT and IP Law at KU Leuven (CiTiP). She holds a Master's degree in Intellectual Property Law and the Digital Economy from the University of Glasgow. Leona's current research focuses on the emerging area of EU data law and she is involved in EU funded research projects such as the Data Spaces Support Centre (DSSC) and PrepDSpace4Mobility.

Within the DSSC, Leona provides expertise on both the legal and governance aspects of data spaces, and leads the Governance Expert Group and the Governance Thematic Group. The DSSC project focuses on supporting the operationalisation of the European Strategy for Data and the creation of common European data spaces. The initiative aims to create interoperable data sharing environments that respect EU values and contribute to the European economy and society. Leona's research interests include copyright and the digital economy, and more recently data governance, common European data spaces and artificial intelligence.
