Philippe Gelin, Head of Sector Multilingualism at DG/CONNECT, European Commission, shares with our readers some insights into the present and future of the European language data market and the role that the European Language Data space plays in its realisation.

This EDIC proposal, initiated by France and including 11 confirmed Member States and 7 observers, aims at preserving linguistic and cultural diversity in Europe by respecting European rules and values and encouraging cooperation between Member States.

This year’s Data Week took place between 13 and 15 June in Luleå, Sweden. The event brought together professionals, experts and enthusiasts from several fields to explore the transformative potential and innovation power of data.

On 27 June, META-FORUM 2023 took place in Brussels, Belgium, with over 120 attendees, bringing together experts, stakeholders, and decision makers from academia, research, public administration and industry.

Besides developing and deploying the Common European Language Data Space, one of the main work strands the LDS project consists of is establishing its Governance Bodies, CELT and CELT+.
